I just love Mother's Day. Not because I get gifts from my husband and daughter or can refuse to cook or clean. Those aspects are great, but the real reason I love Mother's Day is because it's a day that celebrates a dream come true for me. Mother's Day is a reminder to me that miracles do happen and we have reason to hope.
I can remember many a Mother's Day where I sat in church amongst a sea of pregnant women, wondering why it hadn't happened for me yet. Each of their growing bellies taunted me and almost teased, "This will never be you." But I endured those painful reminders and continued to hope that one day, I would be celebrated on a Sunday morning in the middle of May.
I'll spare you my entire story for sake of your precious, mommy time (you can read about it on our blog www.thepregnancycompanion.com) and just say that after several years of infertility and multiple miscarriages, my dream of becoming a mother finally came true. Three days after Mother's Day, 2008 my daughter Hope was born. And as I write this (and after a further struggle, miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy) I sit here with a miracle baby boy growing in my belly as I look towards celebrating Mother's Day this year. Throughout my journey to become a bona fide recipient of Mother's Day glory, I had the benefit of an OB that was a dear friend.
